- You must be a full-time JMSB student (minimum of 12 credits (4
courses)) at the time of application until your date of departure.
- You must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (B average).
- You must have at least 12 credits left to complete within your
program.
- You must have completed a minimum of 24 credits at Concordia prior
to the anticipated term abroad:
* If you will be applying for exchange during your second term at
Concordia for the upcoming ISEP year, we will still consider your
application to the ISEP. However, your acceptance would be
conditional, pending your results from your second term.
- You should have room for elective credits within your degree
program. Please be advised that certain courses taken abroad may not
be considered as Course Equivalencies for Core or Major/Minor courses.
Rather, they will be considered as either General Electives or
Business Electives within your degree.
* If you do NOT have room for elective credits within your degree,
you may potentially end up taking courses abroad over and above the
minimum degree requirements for your program (ie. You may end up doing a
93 or 96 credit degree instead of the normal 90 credit program). This is
not a bad thing! Remember that the overall exchange experience will
benefit you tremendously, so do not despair if you end up extending your
studies by a course or two…. It will be worth it!!!
- Fluency (written and oral) in the language of instruction of your
host institution is required.
You must obtain written authorization from the language testing
centre, certifying your proficiency in the relevant language:
- * For French: Contact the Département d’Études Françaises
at (514) 848-7500; LB 631-10
- * For German: Contact the Department of Modern Languages
and Linguistics at (514) 848-8679, H 663-12
- * For Spanish: Contact the Department of Modern Languages
and Linguistics at (514) 848-8679, H 663-12
- * For Other Languages: Generally, our
Bilateral Partners offer a selection of business courses in English
(eg. Groningen University in the Netherlands, Lund or Gothenburg
Universities in Sweden, ITESM Guadalajara or Mazatlan in Mexico,
etc.). However, most courses offered at these host institutions are
in that respective country’s language. All students are strongly
encouraged to take basic introductory language courses at the host
institution to become better acquainted with the host country’s
culture and practices. These courses may or may not be counted for
academic credit. Intensive language course may be available during
the academic year at the host institution. Please consult the
respective host institution’s website: syllabus, calendar,
prospectus, etc..
- You should be adaptable, show plenty of drive and initiative, and
you should exude enthusiasm!
- Subsequent to your exchange experience, you will be required to
submit a minimum 1,500 word typed report detailing your term(s)
abroad. The report will be submitted to the JMSB’s International
Student Affairs Office (GM 201-7) in electronic form (via email,
diskette or CD – MS Word Format or PDF File/GIF or JPG pictures). You
may submit this report while away, or within the first 6 weeks of your
return to Montreal.
* Future exchange participants will read your report.
* An information sheet with guidelines for this report will be
mailed to the student with their Letter of Approved to Participate
in the ISEP by the JMSB.
* NOTE: Your report may be reproduced, in whole or in part, on
this JMSB Exchange Website or other media source.
